Easipoint was approach by the New South Wales Government to restore 24 Terraces up at Newcastle the property is directly on the beach so the mortar had been attacked by the salt air and harsh weather conditions.
The Building Problem
The building was constructed in the 1940s with very little cement or no cement was placed into the mortar,the joint have been blown out by the coastal weather conditions.
Being in such a harsh enviroment the entire building to be painted and old timber windows to be restored.
Having place mirrors down the cavities all the wall ties had rusted right through and with no structural stability at all.
The Building Solution
The entire building was grinded out to a depth of 25mm from the face and a special formulated mortar was injected in the area with a rolled joint to finish off.
All windows and door where completely restored back to original state sourcing pieces to suit the building.
Helifix system was introduced to replace all the cavity brick ties to gain back it structural integrity.
Painters sanded back and applied 3 coats of specified paint to match original colours.
